Batch Edit Message List

Batch Edit is a message list management tool provided by BatChat. When you have many conversations in your message list, you can quickly process multiple conversations in batches instead of setting them one by one. It currently supports batch mark as read, batch mute, batch delete, and more.

Batch Mute

1. Feature description: Set the notification mode of selected conversations to "Mute". After it is enabled, new messages from these conversations will no longer send notifications.
2. Steps:
   1. Tap "Edit" in the upper-right corner to enter edit mode;
   2. Select the conversations you want to mute, then tap "Mute" at the bottom of the page and confirm.

To cancel mute, enter the "Chat Settings" of an individual conversation and turn it off.

Batch Mark as Read

1. Feature description: Clear all unread messages in selected conversations and reset the unread count to zero;
2. Steps:
   1. Tap "Edit" in the upper-right corner to enter edit mode;
   2. Select the conversations you want to mark as read, then tap "Read" at the bottom of the page.

In addition to batch operations in edit mode, you can drag the unread count bubble at the bottom of the message list to clear all unread messages with one tap.

Batch Delete

1. Feature description: Delete all chat history from selected conversations and remove these conversations from the message list;
2. Steps:
   1. Tap "Edit" in the upper-right corner to enter edit mode;
   2. Select the conversations you want to delete, then tap "Delete" at the bottom of the page and confirm.

1. Deleted chats cannot be restored, so make sure you no longer need the selected chat history;
2. Deleting a conversation does not affect the friend relationship. The other person can still message you normally.

FAQ

1. Can I still find messages after batch marking them as read?

Yes. The messages themselves are not deleted; only the unread status is cleared. You can still enter the conversation to view chat history.

2. Is batch mute different from muting a single conversation?

No. Batch mute simply applies the same setting to multiple conversations at once. The result is the same as setting mute individually.

3. Will chat history still be there when a deleted conversation appears again?

No. Batch delete clears all chat history. When the other person sends a new message, the conversation will appear again, but the old history cannot be restored.

4. Does edit mode support selecting all conversations?

Yes. After entering edit mode, you can select all conversations with one tap for easier batch operations.
